The Authority of the King (Part 1)
Mark 1:21-28 Jesus begins His public preaching ministry. The people were amazed by His authority. Unlike other teachers of His day, Jesus spoke with a firs hand knowledge of Scripture. His authority over a posing demon, confirmed His teaching. The people were a astounded. Unfortunately amazement did not equal belief. News of His teaching and power spread. -
A Shepherd’s Heart (Part 1)
Romans 1:8-15 The introduction to Paul’s letter to the Romans with his expression of thanks to the God he serves. We get a glimpse into Paul’s heart (and an example to follow) by looking at this gratitude and its natural outpouring love, prayer, worship, trust, humility, and perseverance. -
The Call of God
Romans 1:5-7 Paul’s brief summary of the gospel by bringing it to its natural conclusion: that Jesus Christ sovereignly commissions His servants and calls His saints. This commission is one of obedience and is ultimately for His own glory. -
The Thrill of Living
Ecclesiastes 11:7-10 We find that enjoying life and obeying God go hand-in-hand. We are to seek to enjoy life but to be wise. We are not to do something sinful or foolish. We will give an account. -
Proclaiming the Kingdom (Part 2)
Mark 1:16-20 Christ calls two sets of brothers, Simon and Andrew, then James and John. All were fishermen; all used nets; all responded immediately. When preaching the gospel, remember the net method of fishing. -
The Gospel of God (Part 2)
Romans 1:3-4 The gospel is further elaborated upon by highlighting two successive phases of the revelation of Jesus Christ to the world: He is the eternal Son incarnate, and the eternal Son exalted. -
What Are You Waiting For?
Ecclesiastes 11:1-6 Solomon is encouraging a “bullish” attitude about life in his journal. We find a refreshing hope, counsel to be actively involved in life as that is what God expects from us… even when success is not guaranteed in every situation.
